The Third Instance Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina reduced the sentence to Sefik Alic for the crimes committed in the territory of Bosanska Krajina from ten to eight years of prison.
After the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, quashed a verdict against Sefik Alic, which had sentenced him to ten years in prison for crimes in Bosanska Krajija, the State Prosecution and Defence present their appeals before the Appellate Chamber.
Former Bosnian Army assistant commander Sefik Alic, convicted of abusing Croatian Serb prisoners of war, was freed on a technicality because the wrong criminal code was used at his trial.
During May and June 2013 the Livno Cantonal Court will stop processing criminal cases in order to arrange a premises for protected witnesses and a courtroom, where war crimes trials as well as other trials, will be held.
