The Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals has extended the provisional release in Serbia for Jovica Stanisic – charged with committing crimes against non-Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia – until January 2019.
The retrial of Jovica Stanisic, former chief of the Serbian State Security Service, SDB, and of Franko Simatovic, alias Frenki, an intelligence officer with the same service, continued before the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals on Wednesday, following a month's summer break.

Former Serbian security chief Jovica Stanisic’s defence lawyer told the UN court that an ex-member of the Red Berets unit lied about the defendant commanding an operation in Bosnia in 1994 and 1995.
At the retrial of former Serbian State Security officials Jovica Stanisic and Franko Simatovic at the Mechanism for International Tribunals in The Hague on Wednesday, Stanisic’s lawyer claimed that Red Berets ex-fighter Dejan Sliskovic “made up” testimony allegedly incriminating the defendants.
