Karlica has been charged with participating in the deportation and ethnic cleansing of Bosniak civilians from the villages of Ekici, Alici and Maslovare near Bosanski Novi from May to September 1992. The civilians were beaten and abused during this period.

The prosecution has described Karlica as the leader of an organized criminal group. He allegedly ordered the separation of Bosniak men in the area from women and children. The women and children were taken to Urije, while the men were taken to a local cemetery where they were forced to dig a grave. The prosecution alleges more than 20 Bosniak men were then lined up, executed and buried in the grave.

Karlica has Serbian citizenship and resides in Novi Sad, and cannot be reached by the prosecution.

The indictment has been sent to the state court for confirmation.
