The appeals chamber of the state court in Sarajevo ruled on Thursday that Jevic and Djuric’s prison sentences should be reduced from 32 to 28 years in prison respectively to 20 years each.
At the time of the crimes in July 1995, Jevic was the commander of the Jahorina Training Centre with the Special Brigade of the Bosnian Serb police, and Djuric was the commander of a Jahorina Training Centre police company.
Both were convicted of participating in the murders of captured Bosniak men from Srebrenica in an agricultural warehouse in the village of Kravica and the forcible resettlement of the civilian population from the Srebrenica area.
But the verdict was quashed by the Constitutional Court, which ruled that the more lenient criminal code of the former Yugoslavia, which was in force at the time their crimes were committed, should have been used, not the more recently-introduced Bosnian criminal code.
