The prosecution alleged that Mirovic, a former policeman at the Centre for Public Security in Teslic, tortured and beat the Bosniaks in various ways, causing some of them mortal injuries.

“As a result of the abuse and inhuman treatment, one civilian passed away after two or three days, and one victim could not move for several months,” the prosecution said in a statement.

“Many of the victims, among whom was an under-age boy, suffered injuries and feel the consequences even today,” it added.

The prosecution said that Mirovic is a citizen of Serbia, where he currently lives.

Also on Thursday, the state prosecution filed an indictment against former Croat fighter Jozo Peric for war crimes against civilians in the municipality of Livno in 1993 and 1994.

The prosecution charged Peric with the torture, abuse and inhumane treatment of Bosniak victims from July 1993 to February 1994.

According to the prosecution, he committed the crimes while working at the Livno branch office of the Office of National Security of the Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna’s Department of Internal Affairs.

The Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna was a self-proclaimed wartime Croat-led ‘territorial entity’ in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment was forwarded to the state court for confirmation.
