Husidic, the former commander of the 1st Battalion of the First Brigade of the National Defense of the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region, has been charged with physically abusing and mistreating two members of the Bosnian Army in March 1995.
At today’s hearing, witness Djani Cano said he was a member of a National Defense of the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region unit, which was commanded by Husidic in 1993. He said he eventually left the unit and joined the Bosnian Army.
“I was captured in Podzvizd on March 18, 1995. They transferred us to a house near the mosque in Trnovi. They used to take us to another nearby house in order to interrogate us. Solaja [Husidic ] then came and called out my name. He took me and Fahrudin out and started punching us and kicking us…He was mad. I assumed it was because I stayed with the Bosnian Army,” Cano said.
Cano said he fainted several times during the beating.
The trial will continue on January 11, 2016.
