Milisav Ikonic, Dragan Lubarda and Zoran Ilic have been charged with raping several Bosniak women in June and July 1992. Ikonic was a member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, while Ilic and Lubarda were members of the Bosnian Serb Army.
The state prosecution alleges that the defendants abducted Bosniak women and girls from a secondary school center and church house and took them to apartments in Rogatica, where they raped and sexually abused them. Ilic has also been charged with raping a minor.
At a pretrial status conference, trial chamber chair Halil Lagumdzija said five witnesses would testify under protective measures.
“The defense teams will receive the identity of the witnesses ten days before we send summons to those witnesses. The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina should check once again whether any other witnesses testified under protective measures in other cases,” Lagumdzija said.
Prosecutor Miroslav Janjic said the witnesses would testify publicly under pseudonyms, with the option of excluding the public during some portions of their testimony.
The Bosnian state court confirmed the indictment on October 12.
