Mujo Begic of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina said more than 250 civilians were killed in an attack by Bosnian Serb on settlements near Biljani on July 9 and 10, 1992. The victims included a five old month girl named Amila Dzaferagic, her four year old brother Almir and her mother.

“Many elderly people, women and children were among the civilians. Biljani is a special story from Krajina. In addition to Srebrenica, it’s one of the saddest places today. We must and we should remember this crime and pay respect to the innocent victims each year,” Begic said.

Begic said the remains of the victims were found in several mass graves, including Landiste 1 and Crvena Zemlja.

“Very few verdicts refer to Biljani. Most of them refer to individual perpetrators, but the fact is that this was an organized and systematic attack against innocent civilians. The families of the victims will get no satisfaction and justice will not be served for as long as all the participants in this crime haven’t been processed,” Begic said.

Out of the approximately 600 victims exhumed from Kljuc, 47 were women and 20 were children.
