“Defendant Dusko Zoric is sick and incapable of attending the hearing, as indicated by the health services of the penal and correctional facility in Zenica,” said trial chamber chair Saban Maksumic.
Maksumic said the trial chamber was unable to inform the defense teams earlier, because it received the news on Zoric’s poor health shortly before the hearing.
Todor Todorovic, Zoric’s defense attorney, said he spoke to the defendant three days ago, but hadn’t heard anything about his health condition. Zoric is currently serving a prison sentence for another crime.
Dusko Zoric, Zeljko Grbic, Dusan Milunic, Radomir Stojnic, Radovan Cetic, Zoran Stojnic, Ilija Zoric, Zoran Milunic, Bosko Grujicic, Ljubisa Cetic, Rade Grujcic, Uros Grujcic, Zdravko Antonic and Rajko Gnjatovic have been charged with acts of murder, torture, sexual violence, destruction and confiscation of property from the local population of the village of Zecovi.
Milunic was the commander of the Rasavacka Company of the 6th Battalion of the 43rd Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army. Radomir Stojnic was the commander of the reserve police station in Rasavci. Radovan Cetic was the president of the Serbian Democratic Party and crisis committee for the village of Rasavci. The other defendants were members of the Rasavacka Company, the police and other formations, according to the indictment.
The trial will continue on Thursday, July 16, when a state prosecution witness will be examined.
