The Bosnian state prosecution has charged Bosiljko and Ostoja Markovic, both former members of the Kotor-Varos Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army, with the rape of a minor in the municipality of Kotor-Varos on June 28, 1992. The victim was assigned the pseudonym S-4.

Prosecutor Olivera Djuric read the statement, which was given by Sekula Juric, who was unable to appear in court as he works abroad.

In a statement he gave to the public safety center in Banja Luka on August 9, 2010, Juric said he was a reserve policeman in Kotor-Varos in June 1992 and participated in guarding the village of Obodnik.

At the beginning of the armed conflict, Juric said S-4’s mother asked him for help at a checkpoint in Obodnik.

“The woman came and asked us to provide her with an ambulance in order to drive her daughter, who had been raped, to a hospital,” Juric said. He said he told an ambulance driver to go to S-4’s house.

Juric said he hadn’t heard who the perpetrator was.

The trial will continue on April 28. At the next hearing two court experts will present their findings on S-4’s health.
