“As per a warrant issued by the War Crimes Prosecution, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia has so far deprived seven persons of their liberty at various locations in Serbia in the morning hours. Suspects N.M, A.G, M.B, A.D, B.M, J.P, and D.P. have been brought to the prosecution’s premises,” read a statement issued by the Serbian war crimes prosecution.
The suspects are suspected of having committed war crimes against the civilian population in the area of Kravice, in their capacity as members of the Jahorina training center of the Special Brigade of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska.
“Their victims included more than 1000 Muslim civilians, whose remains were identified after having been exhumed from mass graves at several locations, including Glogova 1 and 2, as well as Ravnice,” the statement said.
The Bosnian state prosecution announced that this arrest operation was a result of cooperation with the Serbian prosecution.
“As part of our cooperation and offer of assistance to our colleagues from Serbia, representatives of the families of war crime victims, who acted in their capacity as injured parties, gave their consent to process the suspects through Serbian judicial bodies,” the statement said.
The Serbian prosecution stated it would continue its search for several other suspects, who are assumed to be residing in neighbouring countries.
