Prosecutor Seid Marusic said that Sekaric, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, should be found guilty of rape, murder and forcible disappearances from the Visegrad area, as well as participating in an attack on Kokino Selo, Gorazde municipality, in which murders were committed.
“I proposed that indictee Sekaric be sentenced to long-term imprisonment lasting 25 years,” Marusic said.
Sekaric, who is held in detention, was charged with crimes against humanity according to the Criminal Code of BiH.
In his closing statement Marusic said that Sekaric raped protected witness S-1 in Kosovo Polje, Visegrad municipality.
The Prosecutor said that this witness did not know the indictee, except for the fact that he told her that he was from Gorazde and that he was a leader of a group, which had come to Kosovo Polje.
According to the Prosecutor, the indictee raped the witness inside a house, while soldiers, who stayed outside, called him by Dragan and Gorazdak.
The Prosecutor reminded the Court that the witness identified the indictee in the courtroom, saying that he was the man who had raped her.
Marusic mentioned that the witnesses said that he killed Fatima Jamak in Kosovo Polje.
“None of the witnesses made a mistake in identifying the person, who introduced himself as Gorazdak,” Marusic said.
He said that indictee Sekaric participated in an attack on Kokino Selo, when three civilians were killed. In his closing statement he called on witnesses’ statements, in which they said that they heard that the indictee was present in the village during the attack.
“Local residents said that the indictee was there,” the Prosecutor said, quoting a witness’ statement.
He said that the Trial Chamber should trust the Prosecution witnesses, adding that the Defence witnesses were irrelevant.
The Defence is due to present its closing statement on February 2.
