Trial Chamber Chairwoman Jasmina Begic said that the indictee was hospitalised at the Psychiatric Clinic in Sarajevo from June 24 to July 18 this year and that it was determined that he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as “a severe depression episode”.
“The Chamber is rendering a decision, ordering a psychiatric expert examination of Ceco, so court experts can determine his current mental condition, as well as whether he suffers from any mental disorders and whether he is capable of participating at his trial,” Begic said.
The indictment charges Ceco, former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, with having physically abused Serb civilians in Dobrinja neighbourhood.
The Supreme Court of the Federation of BiH quashed a verdict, under which Ibrahim Ceco was sentenced to two years in prison for having committed the mentioned crime and returned the case to the Sarajevo Cantonal Court for retrial.
The trial has been postponed until further notice. It will be continued once the expert examination has been completed.
