Snijezana Cavalic said that, when she was in the Command of the Derventa Brigade in Bosanski Brod, it was promised to her that the thirteen-year old daughter of her killed brother, who was in Doboj, would be exchanged for the people held at the stadium.
Cavalic, whose brother, as she said, was killed by the Croatian Army, said that she went to the stadium escorted by some man.
“An armed woman was standing in front of the stadium. The man told her to bring five people. She said: “Do not get any closer, as I shall shoot you as dogs. You received money for the exchange’,” the witness said.
As she said, the man, who was with her, said: “Indira, do not get mad. This is an order received from the Command”. According to Cavalic, he explained to her that he was talking about the witness’ family, but the woman said that she was not interested in anybody and that she would kill them.
Mentioning that she was 1.78 m tall, the witness said that the woman’s height was up to her chin.
“She was big and chubby, fully armed. She had camouflage uniform. She had orange hair and freckles. She looked rather rough considering that she was a woman,” the witness said.
The man, who accompanied her to the stadium, told her that the woman was from Odzak and that her family had been killed.
Witness Cavalic said that Indira, whom she saw in front of the stadium, did not look like the indictee at all, adding that she had never seen the indictee before.
Indira Kameric, former member of the 101st Bosanski Brod Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, is charged with having participated in physical and mental torture, as well as inhumane treatment of Serb and Bosniak civilians and prisoners of war, in the police premises and at Poler stadium in Bosanski Brod in the period from April to October 1992.
The trial is due to continue on November 6.
