Prosecutor Sead Krestalica proposed that a statement the witness gave to the Prosecution in February 2013 be read in the courtroom, but the Defence objected to this proposal. The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo then decided that the witness would be examined at home.

“I have received an e-mail from the witness’ daughter, who says that the witness was born in 1937 and that she is an immobile person. (…) The next hearing will not be held in the courtroom, but in the house in which Rukija Besic lives,” said Trial Chamber Chairman Jasenko Ruzic.

Bogdanovic and Sladoje are charged with having come to Besic’s house on June 13, 1992 and having took Bajro and Suad Besic to a garage, where they beat them. After that they allegedly took them to the Jewish cemetery, where they used them as human shields. Suda was killed on that occasion.

Rukija Besic is Bajro’s wife and Suad’s mother.

The trial of Bogdanovic and Sladoje formally began anew, because a Trial Chamber member was replaced. The continuation of the trial is scheduled for June 18.
