Acting on a request by the Defence, at the beginning of October last year the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, sent a letter to the Tribunal in order to be able to contact about ten people, who had previously testified under protection measures at The Hague.

Nearly eight months later the Tribunal has submitted a response to the Court of BiH, but the response was discussed at a session closed to the public, so it is not known whether the Defence will invite some of those witnesses during the continuation of the trial.

The indictment charges Krsmanovic, former member of the Second Podrinje Light Infantry Brigade with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having participated in the murder, rape, torture and other inhumane acts against Bosniak civilians.

The State Prosecution’s evidence has been presented and several Defence witnesses examined so far at the trial of Krsmanovic, which began in January 2012.

No pieces of evidence have been presented since October last year, because a response from The Hague has been awaited.

The next hearing is due to be held on June 17.
