Goran Nedic, former policeman with the Public Safety Station in Visegrad, said that he had never heard that indictee Predrag Milisavljevic or somebody else sexually abused anybody.
“I have never heard that. As far as I know him, I can guarantee with my life that he did not hit anybody with his fist. (…) I claim that such things were not done in the Police Station. That is so brutal that we must have heard about it,” said Nedic, testifying in defence of Milisavljevic.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Milisavljevic with having sexually abused men in the Public Safety Station. He is charged, along with Milos Pantelic and Ljubomir Tasic, with having participated in the murder, forced resettlement of the population and other inhumane acts in Visegrad.
According to the charges, Milisavljevic and Pantelic committed the crimes in 1992 in their capacity as members of reserve police forces in Visegrad and Tasic as member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS.
Witness Nedic said that Milisavljevic, whom he had known since secondary school days, was a member of the reserve police forces for a certain period of time and that, following the withdrawal of Uzice Corps, he was transferred from police to a special squad, which was under the command of the Army.
The witness said that he had not heard that Milisavljevic escorted a convoy of Bosniaks, who were later killed.
“I did not hear about it at that time. I heard about it recently, I read it in newspapers and on the Internet. People speak about this and other trials,” Nedic said.
Milan Ilic, who appeared as second witness of Milisavljevic’s Defence, said that he was member of the Special Squad, just like the indictee.
As he said, he neither heard that members of that Squad escorted the convoy nor that Milisavljevic escorted the civilians.
The indictment charges Milisavljevic and Pantelic with having participated in the execution of 48 Bosniak men near the Paklenik pit, Sokolac municipality, on June 15, 1992.
The trial is due to continue on January 28.
