Given that the extradition of these persons to Bosnia is not possible, because they have Croatian citizenship, the Prosecution stated that they have undertaken certain activities to ensure they will be processed in Croatia.

Protocol on war crimes cases co-operation between these two countries was signed in the middle of the last year.

As a result of that cooperation, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Croatian administration of justice is working on several cases in order to prosecute persons suspected of war crimes in Bosnia.

Three persons were arrested in Split area last December. One of them was Ivan Hrkac, also known as Cikota, former member of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO), who is suspected of crimes against Bosniaks in the area of Siroki Brijeg.

Hrkac lives in Croatia and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment against him in 2008.

The County’s office in Split did not announce the identity of the other two individuals, alleging that they were kept in custody. They are suspected for torture and the beating of Bosniak civilians in the camps, and as a result one prisoner died.
