The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina suspects Saric, former Commander of a Special Police Brigade with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, MUP of RS, of having advisedly helped members of a joint criminal enterprise to commit genocide in Srebrenica, acting in collaboration with other Army and police units and knowing about the main perpetrators’ intentions.

According to the indictment, which has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation, Saric issued an order to police members to guard the road between Bratunac and Konjevic Polje and capture several thousands of Bosniak men and boys, who walked through the woods in an attempt to leave the Srebrenica protected zone.

Under a first instance verdict pronounced by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 28, Goran Saric was sentenced to 14 years in prison for war crimes committed in the Sarajevo area. Prohibiting measures were ordered against him instead of custody.
