Dronjak, former manager of detention facilities in Drvar, was pronounced guilty of having participated in the establishment and functioning of a system for abuse of civilians and captured members of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatian Defence Council in the “Slavko Rodic” school building Kamenica detention camp.

Prisoners, who were held in bad conditions, were beaten up every day. Forty-five of them did not survive detention.

The Appellate Chamber rendered the verdict after the Defence and Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina had appealed the first instance verdict.

Prosecutor Dzemila Begovic called on the Court to sentence Dronjak to at least 30 years in prison, while Defence attorney Slobodan Peric called for a verdict of release, a much shorter sentence or a retrial.
