State Prosecutor Dragan Corlija requested one-month custody due to “an additional investigation into one incriminated action”.
“This refers to a murder, which had been preceded by beating. Vejzovic and another person participated in these actions,” Corlija said.
Vejzovic is suspected of having tortured Serb civilians in Kladanj municipality from June to September 1992 and in January 1993.
The Prosecutor said that most witnesses had been examined, but it was necessary to examine four more witnesses in relation to the mentioned event.
Rifet Konjic, Defence attorney of the suspect, proposed that the suspect be released on bail and that prohibiting measures be ordered.
“The property my client owns is worth up to KM 100,000. We are attaching the necessary documentation,” Konjic said.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina objected to the Defence’s proposal, explaining that it “doubted the alleged mortgage value, considering the current market price.”
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will render a decision at a later stage.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously filed an indictment against eight former members of the Territorial Defence and police from Kladanj municipality for the same crime of which Vejzovic is suspected.
The Prosecution charges Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Nusret Muhic, Zijad Hamzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Hariz Habibovic and Osman Gogi with crimes committed in Stupari village, Kladanj municipality.
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered prohibiting measures against all of them.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina considers that there is a possibility to merge these two cases.
