“Babic was arrested in his home”, said the Bosnian State Court.

Babic failed to appear at his sentencing, so the Bosnian Appeals Chamber issued an arrest warrant. He was arrested in the afternoon hours.

The Appeals Chamber found Babic, former member of the Prijedor police Intervention squad, of escorting a convoy with more than 1,000 Bosniak and Croat civilians from Prijedor to Travnik.

According to the verdict, 150 men were taken out of the convoy on Mount Vlasic, and were shot on Koricanske Stijene. Babic was found guilty of shooting the men and robbing them.

Babic was released to defend himself from liberty in October 2011, after the first instance verdict for crimes on Koricanske Stijene – under which he was also found guilty – was quashed.

Other than Babic, for the killings of 150 men on August 21, 1992 Milorad Skrbic and Dusan Jankovic were sentenced to 21 years in prison respectively, while Zeljko Stojnic was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Babic is set to stand trial in a separate case, where he is charged with murders in Carakovo village near Prijedor.
