Mirko Lecic, prosecutor for the State Prosecution, at the status conference before the start of trial laid out his plan of presenting the prosecution’s case and announced that he planned to call 15 witnesses and several experts, and admitting exhibits into evidence.
“One witness will testify under code-name A and we will propose that the public be excluded during his examination,” said prosecutor Lecic.
Lecic said the Prosecution’s complete case requires around 13 work hours.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has charged Basic and Sijak with forcing a female of Croat ethnicity into sexual intercourse with them in the prison of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina located in the basement of the “Sumarstvo” building in Vares, on January 25, 1994.
According to the charges, the rape of the female, together with the two indictees, was committed by two other unidentified members of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The indictment alleges that Basic was Chief of the State Security Service Section in Olovo and Sijak was a military policeman with the 122nd Light Brigade of Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time.
Kerim Celik, lawyer of indictee Basic, said he planned to call at least 17 witnesses and admit exhibits into evidence. Sijak’s lawyer Fahrija Karkin did not talk about the defence strategy at the status conference.
