Kovacevic was arrested in Sweden in December last year on the basis of an international warrant. He was extradited to Bosnian judicial authorities on Saturday, October 29 this year. Kovacevic may be held in custody until November 28, 2011.

“The Court has determined that the existence of a grounded suspicion that the suspect committed the crime of which he is suspected. The Court has ordered the suspect into custody, because it has determined that there is a danger that he may flee and fear that, if released to liberty, he would interfere with the criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses and accomplices,” the State Court’s decision says.

Kovacevic is suspected of participating in the murders, torture, unlawful detention and forcing Serb civilians to perform hard labour and pillaging their property in Sijekovac and Bosanski Brod area in 1992.
