The State Prosecution suspects that Krsmanovic, acting in collaboration with other members of “Osvetnici” (“Revengers”) paramilitary formation, persecuted the Bosniak population in Visegrad area from April 1992 to the autumn of 1995.

Krsmanovic was arrested on May 31 this year. He has been held in custody since.

The search of the house in Visegrad municipality used by Krsmanovic was conducted by the State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA, with the support of the border police. The operation was coordinated by State Prosecution investigators.

“During the search, certain documents and objects were found. They will be used in the further course of evidence presentation,” the State Prosecution said in its announcement.

The State Prosecution suspects that Krsmanovic, former member of the “Osvetnici” paramilitary formation, which was led by Milan Lukic, participated in war crimes committed against Bosniaks in the Visegrad area.

“In addition, Krsmanovic is suspected of having participated in the kidnapping of 16 Bosniaks in Sjeverin village. Those persons were then tortured, abused and killed in Visegrad municipality,” the State Prosecution alleges.

Milan Lukic, leader of “Veli orlovi” (“White Eagles”) or “Osvetnici” paramilitary group, was sentenced, under a first instance verdict pronounced by the Hague Tribunal, to life imprisonment for crimes committed against Muslims in Visegrad. Lukic’s case is being considered by the Appellate Chamber of the Hague Tribunal at present.
