The State Prosecution filed the custody motion because it believes that the suspect may attempt to flee and out of concern that he might interfere with the investigation and influence witnesses and accomplices if at liberty.

The Prosecution alleges that suspect Krsmanovic’s release to liberty would lead to a disturbance of public order and upset citizens.

The State Prosecution suspects that Krsmanovic, accompanied by other members of the “Osvetnici” (“Revengers”) paramilitary formation commanded by Milan Lukic, persecuted the Bosniak population by participating in murders, forcible disappearances, rape, unlawful deprivation of liberty, torture, forcible resettlement and inhumane treatment from April 1992 to the autumn of 1995.

In addition, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina suspects that Krsmanovic participated, in October 1992, in the kidnapping, torture and murder of 16 Bosniaks.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will render its decision about the extension of custody for suspect Krsmanovic at a later stage.
