As the trial for genocide committed in Srebrenica got underway, State Prosecutor Dubravko Campara presented, as evidence, a few resolutions adopted by the Security Council of the United Nations pertaining to the state of conflict in that town.
Among others, he presented a resolution on the deterioration of the situation in Srebrenica, as well as a resolution on the declaration of protected zones in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Srebrenica. The defence did not object to the evidence.
The State Prosecution charges Franc Kos, Stanko Kojic, Vlastimir Golijan and Zoran Goronja with genocide committed in Srebrenica and, more specifically, the murder of about 800 men on Branjevo farm in Zvornik municipality in July 1995.
Among other things, the indictment alleges that Kos, in his capacity as the Commander of the Firest Bijeljina Platoon of the Tenth Reconnaissance Squad with the Main Headquarters of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, and Kojic, Golijan and Goronja, as members of the same Squad shot prisoners, some of whom were first blindfolded and bound.
The indictment alleges that, following the mass murder of men and boys, Kos and Kojic searched for survivors, whom they “killed by firing from revolvers”.
The next hearing is due to take place on January 11, 2011, when the Prosecutor will examine the first witness.
