Episode 163: Families of Srebrenica genocide victims call for mass graves to be marked
Victims of the Srebrenica genocide have been found in more than 80 mass graves, most of which have not been marked and are hard to find. BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina documented the start of an initiative by victims’ families to mark some of these graves for the first time in the manner envisaged in the country’s Law on Missing Persons, which has already been in force for 20 years.

Journalists accompanied by Ramiza Gurdic visited mass grave locations in Kamenica and Zeleni Jadar, near Zvornik, where the remains of her loved ones were discovered. Zeleni Jadar is one of the graves where no sign exists whatsoever that genocide victims were found there. Ramiza hopes that will change soon.
