Episode 151: Srebrenica – Preserving Memories to Combat Genocide Denial
For a third year running, staff at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre have been filming stories about the lives of residents of Srebrenica before and during the war, as well as their experiences of surviving the genocide. With stories filmed over the past year included, testimonials by 500 victims have so far been permanently preserved in the Memorial Centre’s archive.

We have spoken to them, as well as to others involved in this effort, about why it is important for them to record these oral testimonials. This is a story about how the idea has exceeded expectations since last July 11. A specially-developed methodology is giving hope to victims that, through this oral history, they will help to reduce genocide denial and contribute to reconciliation.
