29. September 2016.10:12
Swiss police have arrested Elfeta Veseli, a female former Bosnian Army soldier who is suspected of murdering a 12-year-old Serb boy in the Zvornik area in 1992. The Bosnian state prosecution said on Thursday that 56-year-old former Bosnian Army member Elfeta Veseli has been arrested in the Neuchatel canton in western Switzerland and that extradition proceedings will begin soon.

Veseli is suspected of killing Slobodan Stojanovic, a 12-year-old Serb boy, in an extremely brutal manner near the village of Kamenica in the Zvornik area in 1992, acting in collaboration with other persons.

“The prosecution has been informed that the suspect objected to voluntary extradition from Switzerland to Bosnia and Herzegovina under a simplified procedure, so activities will be launched for her extradition and deportation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she will stand trial, will begin in the upcoming period,” the prosecution said in a statement.

Veseli was first mentioned in a statement by the Bosnian prosecution last year, when former Bosnian Army general Naser Oric, who led Bosniak forces in battles against Serb troops in Srebrenica, was charged with war crimes against Serb prisoners in the area in 1992.

In August 2015, the Bosnian prosecution alleged that Oric and Bosnian Army soldier Sabahudin Muhic killed three Bosnian Serb prisoners of war in the villages of Zalazje, Lolici and Kunjerac in 1992. Their trial is now underway.

At the time, the Bosnian prosecution also told BIRN that within the same case they would file a request to the Swiss authorities for the extradition of Veseli.
