According to the charges, Sabic and Brkic promised to give a certain amount of money to state court judge Azra Miletic. The prosecution alleges that Sabic and Brkic, who were facing organized crime charges, bribed Miletic in order to influence the outcome of a second instance proceeding against them.

At this hearing, the defense brought up the issue of the submission of evidence, as well as protection measures for witnesses.

“A number of procedural violations have happened in this case. We still haven’t seen all the pieces of evidence, but, irrespective of that, I am ready to enter my plea,” Azra Miletic said.

“The judge at the preliminary hearing didn’t take into account our arguments regarding protection measures for witnesses, so we are asking you to do so, as a preliminary hearing judge,” defense attorney Edina Residovic said.

With regards to the submission of evidence, judge Minka Kreho said the defense had been informed in writing that it could access the court and listen to CDs containing intercepted conversations.

However Kreho said it wouldn’t be possible to obtain copies of the conversations, since all unused recordings would be destroyed.

The defense said it would insist on its right to receive copies of all the evidence.

Responding to a comment that copies of evidence had been submitted to the defense in other cases, Kreho said this probably referred to cases in which no other investigations had been opened.
