The indictment has charged Stricevic, a former member of the reserve police forces, with participating in the murder of Emsud Smailovic and Mustafa Cikota, former members of the Territorial Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The retrial was ordered after the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina repealed a verdict which sentenced Stricevic to ten years in prison and returned the case to the cantonal court for a retrial in September 2014.
Following a reading of the indictment, court ordered neuropsychiatrist Nada Milovanovic presented her findings on Stricevic’s mental health was capable of following the trial.
Stricevic’s defense objected to the findings and proposed a new expert examination, but the trial chamber rejected the proposal.
At today’s hearing, the court admitted all pieces of the cantonal prosecution’s evidence, which were presented during the first instance trial. The trial chamber ordered defense attorney Jovo Pilipovic to submit a written proposal of evidence, which he intended to present within the next seven days.
The trial will continue on October 13.
