Vojic and Mesic Trial Closed to Public
At today’s hearing of the Adil Vojic and Beki Mesic trial, a statement given by a deceased witness was read aloud in the courtroom. The public was asked to leave the hearing.
The state prosecution said it planned to read two statements given by deceased witness Boro Borcic. It proposed that the public be excluded from the hearing, because a protected witness known as ST-1 was mentioned in those statements.
Vojic and Mesic, former members of the 501st Brigade of the Fifth Corps of the Bosnian Army, have been charged with the repeated rape of a woman on May 1 or 2, 1994, and with forcing another person to sexually abuse her.
The trial will continue on September 23.
