11-Year Prison Sentence Against Pravdic Repealed, Retrial Ordered

“Pravdic’s appeal has been partially accepted, hence the verdict handed down by the Zenica cantonal court has been repealed. The case will be returned to the first instance chamber for a retrial,” the court’s decision reads.

In December 2013, the cantonal court of Zenica sentenced Pravdic, a former member of the Croatian Defense Council, to 11 years in prison for crimes committed in Zepce. Pravdic was found guilty of having killed two prisoners on August 5, 1993, in revenge for the murder of his brother.

Pravdic’s defense had requested that the Supreme Court acquit Pravdic or revoke the charges, on the grounds that the the wrong perpetrator had been sentenced and the investigation had been poorly handled.
