Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic, and Nermin Kalember are charged with committing crimes against civilians at the Silos detention facility, the Krupa military barracks, and the 9 Maj school building.

The indictment alleges that Hujic was the manager and deputy manager at Silos and that Covic performed the same functions. Mesanovic was one of the deputy managers at Silos and the manager of the detention camp in the Krupa military barracks. Kalember was a guard at Silos. The other defendants were members of civil, military, and police authorities.

Edina Residovic, Mustafa Djelilovic’s defense attorney, complained about the relevancy of the majority of the evidence submitted by the prosecution.

“I think that some of the evidence is irrelevant for the indictment, but I leave that for the court to assess. Also, we cannot verify the probative value of the documents because they are not presented to witnesses,” Residovic said.

The defense attorneys of Fadil Covic, Nezir Kazic and Nermin Kalember, considered this new evidence as indisputable. Other defense attorneys agreed with Edina Residovic’s objection.

Prosecutor Zorica Djurdjevic said portions of the new evidence describe the activities of the presidency and the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which include a decision on the status of Silos detainees.

Djurdjevic presented a decision from the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the Silos detention facility. According to the decision, the facility was abolished in 1995. Custody over the detainees was terminated and criminal proceedings against some of the detainees were suspended. This decision was allegedly signed by judges Davorin Jukic, Amir Jaganjac, and others.

Documents regarding the exchange of captives from Silos, as well as civilians from Tarcin and Hadzici were also enclosed.

In total, the state prosecution filed 262 pieces of material evidence. At the next hearing, the prosecution will submit more documentation. Djelilovic, the first defendant, will then be questioned.

The trial will continue on March 26.
