Including lists of detainees, who were held in detention facilities in the Hadzici area, in the case file, Prosecutor Zorica Djurdjevic said that, by presenting those documents, she wanted to prove the headcount of detainees in the detention camps.
“By these lists we are proving the massiveness and arbitrariness. We shall provide more details about these pieces of evidence in our closing statement,” Djurdjevic said.
The Defence objected to authenticity of some of these pieces of evidence.
“There are no headers or signatures. Also, the documents do not indicate who authored them,” said Lejla Covic, Defence attorney of indictee Halid Covic.
The Prosecution also included 39 pieces of evidence referring to forced labour performed by detainees, but it did not explain them either.
The Prosecution of BiH charges Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember with crimes committed in “Silos” detention camp, “Krupa” military barracks and the “9. Maj” school building.
The indictment alleges that Hujic was Manager and Deputy Manager of “Silos” and that Halid Covic performed the same functions. Mesanovic was one of the Deputy Managers of “Silos” and Manager of the detention camp in “Krupa” military barracks, while Kalember was a guard in “Silos”. The other indictees were members of the civil, military and police authorities.
Documents about the functioning of “Silos”, school building in Pazaric and “Krupa” warehouse were also included in the case file.
“We are proving the contribution made by indictees’ actions. On the basis of the evidence it can be seen in what conditions the detainees were held and how they were treated,” Djurdjevic said, commenting on the documents about the functioning of “Silos”.
A set of photographs of “Silos”, which were made two years after the dissolution of the detention camp, was also included.
A total of 308 pieces of material evidence were included in the case file at this hearing. The presentation of evidence continues on January 29.
