Dragan Perucica, witness for Bogdanovic’s defence, said that he knew the defendant since they were children. He said that until June 17 or 18, Bogdanovic was a reserve policeman and after that he transferred to the Army of Republika Srpska unit in charge of guarding the frontline at the Jewish cemetery.

Perucica said that at a funeral he heard from a man called Nedjo Divcic that two soldiers from the Rogatica unit of the Army of Republika Srpska brought Bajro and his son to the Jewish cemetery.

“He told me they made them climb the fence of the Jewish cemetery,” said Perucica.

Bogdanovic and Sladoje are charged with taking Bajro and Suad Besic on June 13, 1992, from their house to the garage, where they beat them, and later took them to the Jewish cemetery, where they used them as human shields. On that occasion, Suad Besic was killed.

Asked by the prosecution whether he recalled anyone else getting killed around the Jewish cemetery, Perucica replied that he thought no one else did.

He added that he also knew defendant Sladoje, who was in the Territorial Defence.

The trial is set to resume on November 7.
