Defence Submits a List of Questions

The Defence of Oliver Krsmanovic, who is charged with crimes in Visegrad, provides the Trial Chamber with a list of questions for a protected State Prosecution witness, whose statement was read at this trial previously.

These questions will be submitted to another trial chamber, which examined the protected witness, so it could invite him again and ask him the Defence’s questions. His answers will then be read at the trial.

The indictment charges Krsmanovic, former member of the Second Podrinje Light Infantry Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having participated in the murders, rape, torture and other inhumane acts against Bosniak civilians in Visegrad in 1992.

Defence attorney Slavisa Prodanovic confirmed having received, from The Hague Tribunal, audio recordings of witnesses’ statements given before that court.

Considering the fact that those recordings cannot be accessed without the help from the Criminal Defence Sector, the Defence attorney would review the testimonies later on and decide whether he would use them at Krsmanovic’s trial and, if so, which ones he would use.

The Defence received those statements in May, after having waited for a response from the Hague Tribunal for nearly eight months.

The trial is due to continue on September 16.
