Softic, a former colleague of the indictee’s, said that he remembered that Dedic’s shift was always after his.
“He used to work as a policeman on checkpoints. I remember that some people were arrested due to the finding and handing over of weapons. The arrests were conducted by the Manoeuvere Unit, while crime inspectors examined the arrested persons,” Softic said.
He said that, in his capacity as a duty policeman, he did not keep records on whether any policemen participated in the arrests, but he remembered that he did not see Dedic in the Police Station building on that day.
“I saw arrested civilians. Some of them were released home right away, while others were transferred to a detention unit. Those were the ones at whose places weapons had been found. They stayed in the Station when I left. I completed my shift at 2 p.m.” Softic said.
According to the witness’ testimony, many similar operations were conducted in June 1992.
The trial is due to continue on September 1.
