“The Appellate Chamber accepted a Defence’s appeal and confirmed the part of the verdict acquitting him of charges,” said Ozrenka Jaksic, Defence attorney of Saric.

In August last year Saric, former Chief of the Public Safety Station in the Serb municipality of Centar, was found guilty of having supervised and participated in dividing men, who were held in Jagomir psychiatric hospital building, into three groups after they had been capture and detained on June 19, 1992.

One group of captives was sent to the territory controlled by the Army of BiH, a group of 29 of them was taken to detention camps in Vogosca, while the third group stayed at that location. Their bodies were found at Skakavac.

Under the verdict, Saric was acquitted of the responsibility for the disappearance of Zahid Pandzic, who has been missing since June 14, 1992.

Both the State Prosecution and Defence appealed the verdict. In its appeal the Prosecution requested that indictee Saric be sentenced to longer imprisonment sentence while the Defence called for a verdict of release or renewal of trial.
