Witness Did not See Macic in Musala

As the trial for crimes in Konjic continues, a Defence witness says that he neither saw Ibro Macic in “Musala” nor heard that he did anything bad.

Rasim Krzo told the Court that he was a guard shift leader in “Musala” prison in Konjic in 1993. He said that he was a member of the Military Police Company with the Corps of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, whose commander was a Nusret Sahic.
“Ibro Macic was not in my shift. I do not remember having seen him,” Krzo said, adding that he thought that Macic was not a guard in the other shift, whose leader was Sefik Alic, either.
 
Krzo said that he made a report, when a man named Midke Pirkic came one night and examined some detainees, who, according to Pirkic’s allegations, had raped a girl in Dusina. Pirkic visited the detainees after having obtained permission from the Manager of “Musala” prison.

“I did not see Ibro Macic with him,” Krzo said, responding to a Defence’s question, adding that, on that occasion he recorded that a detainee named Zoran Muftic, also known as Kina, was beaten up.

He said that he stayed in “Musala” until the exchange of Croat detainees.

The Prosecution of BiH charges Ibro Macic, former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, with having participated in the torture and sexual abuse of detainees in “Musala” school building in Konjic from April to October 1993.
Testifying at this hearing, second witness Adnan Alikadic, former Commander of the Military Police Company in Konjic, said that he remembered that “young” Ibro Macic was a member of his Company and that he was assigned to “Musala” later on.

Alikadic pointed out that he had never heard anything bad about Macic.

Krzo and Alikadic were originally proposed as State Prosecution witnesses. Once the Prosecution gave up their examination, the Defence of Macic invited them to testify in defence of Macic.
 
Ibro Macic’s Defence attorney Fadil Abaz said that he planned to examine Ibro Macic, Edhem Zilic, former Manager of “Musala”, and Sefik Alic, leader of a guard shift.
 
The Prosecution announced that those were the suspects in this case, but the Chamber approved the Defence’s proposal for their examination.
The trial is due to continue on July 4.
