Prosecutor Ivan Matesic filed the custody order motion due to a danger that the suspect might flee and influence witnesses and accomplices. As he said, the suspect had previously been sentenced for violent behaviour and extortion.

“I must say that the Prosecution has not completed the investigation,” the Prosecutor said, adding that he planned to examine some more witnesses in the upcoming period of time.

Explaining the reasons related to possible flight, the Prosecutor said that suspect Vlacic lived in Zvornik in the vicinity of the border between BiH and Serbia.

The Prosecution of BiH suspects Vlacic, former member of military police with the Bircanska Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, of having killed three Bosniaks in “Lovac” building in Sekovici in May 1993.

The Defence objected to the custody order motion for Vlacic, saying that the reasons for custody measures, as listed by the Prosecution of BiH, did not exist. Defence attorney Dejan Bogdanovic proposed to the Court of BiH to confiscate the suspect’s travel documents and ban him from leaving his place of residence.

“He would accept home detention as well,” the Defence attorney said.

The Court of BiH will render a decision at a later stage.
