Predrag Bajic was pronounced guilty of having killed seven civilians and raped two females, while Sinisa Babic was sentenced for having killed five civilians and raped one female person.Bajic was sentenced to 13 and Babic to seven years’ imprisonment. Custody measures for both of them have been extended. They will be held in custody until they have been sent to a prison to serve their sentences. The Bihac Cantonal Court said that, although Bajic and Babic were extremely young and drunk when they committed the crime, their sentences could not be further reduced, considering the large number of injured parties, who lost their fathers, mothers and other family members. Bajic and Babic were exempted from paying the proceeding costs, while families of the killed persons were advised to settle their property and legal requests through civil suits. The Trial Chamber said that the pronounced sentences could achieve the purpose of punishment, considering the large number of injured parties in this case. Bajic and Babic said that they deliberately agreed to reach the agreements with the Una-Sana Cantonal Prosecution, asking the families of the killed persons to forgive them for they did. The parties have the right to appeal the part of the verdict pertaining to the duration of sentences with the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
