Two Verdicts Due Next Week

In the week ahead the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to pronounce two verdicts against five indictees, who are charged with war crimes in Bugojno and Sarajevo.

On Friday, December 13 the first verdict is due to be pronounced following a State Court decision to release 13 persons from prison. The decision was rendered after the verdicts against those persons had been quashed due to wrong application of laws. The verdict will be pronounced in the case against Goran and Zoran Damjanovic, who were sentenced, according to the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to a total of 21-and-a-half years in prison for crimes against civilians in the Sarajevo area.  

On Wednesday, December 11 a verdict is due to be pronounced at the end of the retrial of Nisvet Gasal, Musajb Kukavica and Senad Dautovic, who were charged with crimes against the Croat population in Bugojno.

Under a first instance verdict pronounced in November 2011, Gasal was sentenced to six years, Dautovic to 13, while Kukavica was acquitted of charges.  

On Thursday the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to present its closing statement at the trial of Zeljko Jukic, who is charged with crimes in Prozor. On that same day the first witness will be examined at the trial of Josip Tolic, whom the State Prosecution charges with crimes committed in Odzak.  

On Tuesday, December 10 the Defence of Sead Menzil and Mirsad Vatrac are due to present their closing statements. Menzil, Vatrac, Fikret Planincic and Rasim Lisancic are on trial for having committed crimes in Serdari village, near Kotor-Varos. On that same day Edin Dzeko, who is charged with crimes in Trusina and Jablanica, will testify in his defence.

On Tuesday the Defence is due to continue presenting evidence at the trial of Predrag Milisavljevic, Milos Pantelic and Ljubomir Tasic, who are charged with crimes in Visegrad.

On Monday, December 9 a custody hearing will be held in the case against Zrinko Pincic, who was previously sentenced for crimes in Konjic and released from prison due to wrong application of law.

On that same day the trials are due to continue in the case against Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin, Senad Hakalovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Nihad Bojadzic and Zulfikar Alispago, who are charged with crimes in Trusina, near Konjic, Dragomir Soldat, Velemir Djuric and Zoran Babic, who are charged with crimes in Carakovo, near Prijedor, as well as Aleksandar Cvetkovic, who is indicted for genocide in Srebrenica. The trial of Cvetkovic continues on Tuesday as well.
 
The continuation of the trials of Branko Vlaco, who is indicted for crimes in Vogosca, Veselko and Ivo Raguz, who are charged with crimes in Dretelj, Milun Kornjaca, who is charged with crimes in Cajnice, Zemir Kovacevic, who is indicted for crimes in Bosanski Brod, and Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with genocide in Srebrenica, is scheduled for Wednesday next week.
 
The trial of Vehid Subotic, who is charged with crimes in Dusina village, near Zenica, is due to continue on Wednesday and Friday.  
 
On Thursday new State Prosecution witnesses are due to appear at the trials of Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember, who are charged with crimes in Hadzici, as well as Nihad Bojadzic, who is indicted for crimes in Jablanica, and Nedzad Hodzic and Dzevad Salcin for crimes on Mount Igman.

New State Prosecution witnesses will be examined at the trials of Ibro Macic, who is charged with crimes in Konjic, as well as Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Nusret Muhic, Zijad Hamzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Hariz Habibovic, Osman Gogic and Kahro Vejzovic, who are charged with crimes in the Kladanj area, on Friday.

On that same day the trial is due to continue in the case against Ramiz Avdovic and Iulian-Nicolae Vintila, who are charged with crimes in Sarajevo.
 
The pronouncement of a second instance verdict against Marko Adamovic and Bosko Lukic, who are charged with crimes in Kljuc, was scheduled for Thursday, December 12. However, the pronouncement of this verdict is not included in the weekly schedule of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Public Information Section said that it was not able to provide information until Monday.
