Defence witnesses say that they remember that Edin Dzeko was present, when two wounded members of “Zulfikar” Unit with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, were brought to the wartime hospital in Suhodol, near Hadzici.

Witnesses Alma Merdzanic and Nusret Djelilovic, former employees at the wartime hospital, said that soldier Samko did not show any signs of life, while the other soldier was lightly wounded, so they offered him medical assistance.

According to testimonies by previous witnesses, they were wounded in an attack on Trusina village, near Konjic, on April 16, 1993, when Croat civilians and captured members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, were killed.

Both witnesses said that Dzeko was present in the vehicle, which brought his comrades. They remember that there was one car, but they were not able to specify which car it was, except that it was a station wagon.

According to previous testimonies by witnesses, the shooting of six Croats in Trusina on April 16, 1993, which is charged upon Dzeko, former member of “Zulfikar” Unit of ABiH, happened after the wounding.

Witness Merdzanic said that no records of persons, who escorted the wounded, were kept. Both witnesses said that they knew Samko and Dzeko, because they came to the hospital frequently, as their girlfriends worked there.

In addition to the shooting, Dzeko is charged with having killed two old Croat ladies and one old man in Trusina. Also, the indictee is charged with crimes against Croat civilians and detainees in Jablanica in the second half of 1993.

The trial is due to continue on October 1.
