“I was in the yard with the injured party, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, when Kadic came. He was armed, uniformed and wore a beret. He took the injured party away. She became scared, began crying and asked: ‘Why me?’ He addressed my mother-in-law, who was shouting, asking him where he was taking her. He said that he was just going to examine her, that he would bring her back and that she should not worry,” Dabic said.

She said that Kadic brought the injured party back in an hour or an hour-and-a-half later, adding that her hair was untidy.

“She told my mother-in-law: ‘See, I have brought her back, just like I told you. Now I can take your cow and this daughter-in-law away’, he said, pointing towards me,” Dabic said.

According to the witness’ testimony, the injured party went to their neighbour’s place, where they found her hiding underneath a table when the indictee had left.

“She was moaning, shaking, shouting at us to close the door and protect her. We thought that she lost her mind. She stayed underneath the table for a long time. She felt bad the following day too. When she calmed down a bit, she described the horrible things he had done to her. I feel ashamed speaking about that. We cried while she was telling us about it,” Dabic said.

She said that she had not known the indictee prior to that event.

The indictment charges Kadic, former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with rape.

The trial is due to continue on October 8.
