As the trial of Ramiz Avdovic and Iulian-Nicolae Vintila continues, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina presents, as evidence, Senior Prosecutor Ivica Stanic’s observation related to the detention of Serb citizens.

The Defence of the indictees objected to the relevance of the mentioned piece of evidence, but it also pointed out that observations and opinions should be taken with reservation “considering their subjective nature”.

The presented pieces of evidence included, among others, a decision on declaring the war danger in Bosnia and Herzegovina, an order on handing over weapons by the Commander of the Territorial Defence in Sarajevo and documents about the competencies and tasks of military police.

Avdovic and Vintila are charged with having participated, as members of a joint criminal enterprise, in the establishment and maintenance of a system of abuse of Serb civilians in the period from June to the end of November 1992.

According to the charges, Avdovic was Commander of Guards on the fifth floor of the District Prison in Sarajevo and former Viktor Bubanj military barracks, while Vintila was a cook and guard in the former barracks.

The trial is due to continue on August 23.
