Long-lasting Procedure for Obtaining Documents

The Trial Chamber is awaiting results of an examination of the injured party’s health conditions in order to decide on a proposal by the Prosecution to remove the indictee from the courtroom during her testimony due to the protection of her health and personal integrity.

A Prosecution’s expert witness previously presented his findings about the injured party’s health condition, but the Defence requested that the full set of medical documents be submitted to him for review.

As the hearing was postponed three times due to the long-lasting procedure for obtaining documents, the Trial Chamber announced that, at the next hearing it would make a decision concerning the injured party’s testimony irrespective of the documentation.

The trial of Kadic, who is charged with having committed rape in 1992, is due to continue on June 20.
