The Trial Chamber determined that Trle did not commit the crime charged upon him and acquitted him of all charges due to lack of evidence.
“The Court will explain the sound reasons for its decision, when it dispatches a written copy of the verdict,” Trial Chamber Chairwoman Pasa Softic said giving a short explanation of the verdict.
Trle is charged with having killed prisoner of war Drago Stevanovic, by shooting him on his chest from close distance, on April 21, 1993. At that time Trle was member of the Third Battalion of the Third Tuzla Brigade with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the charges, Trle singled out Stevanovic, former member of the Second Majevica Brigade with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, who was wounded, from a group of prisoners.
During the trial the Tuzla Cantonal Prosecution examined 13, while the Defence invited four witnesses.
Trle defended himself while at liberty during this trial.
The parties have the right to file an appeal against the verdict with the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
