ICTY Prosecutor Visits Bosnia and Herzegovina Next Week

Chief Hague Tribunal Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina next week as part of preparations for a regular report to the UN’s Security Council as announced by his representative Aleksandar Kontic at The Hague.

He specified that, during his visit to Sarajevo from October 15 to 17 Brammertz will meet with the three-member Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, State Prosecutor, international officials and representatives of victims’ associations.

The topics of discussion will include the co-operation between the Hague Prosecution and Bosnian authorities, the trials for war-crimes indictees before the State Court in Sarajevo and the implementation of the strategy for punishment of war crimes.

Brammertz is due to submit the half-yearly report on the work of The Hague Tribunal’s Prosecution in writing in mid-November. He will present it orally before the UN’s Security Council in New York in December.
